The St Helena report and the gap in media

A thousand stories… thank you for reading

Screen Shot 2014-02-06 at 23.56.13It would have been nice for the 1,000th story on this website to be about something fun, but sometimes, life just isn’t. The number of stories being published on St Helena Online has slowed down greatly since I started a full-time job in the journalism department at Coventry University, and a fight against an oversized housing development in my village has swallowed a lot of my St Helena time. But I have no intention of letting the site grind to a halt. It’s been going for two years: after all these months, I certainly want to stick around for the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s arrival, and the opening of the airport. I’ve done a lot of things in 34 years in journalism, but St Helena Online beats all of them. Simon
