Saint TV Liam Yon 640Broadcasting history has been made on St Helena with the transmission of the island’s first weekly television news bulletin.

The bulletin has been produced by South Atlantic Media Services – publisher of The Sentinel – in partnership with videographer Richard Moors of island-based Vision Media.

The two companies are trialling the idea for three months.

The first 13-minute programme covers a suspected arson attack, work on the Millennium Forest, and restoration of guns at Ladder Hill Fort.

The bulletin aired six years after Prince Andrew School students made a video for BBC News School Report calling for the island to have its own TV news. Watch their film here
