From St Helena Tourism:

The past few days have seen considerable activity at Lemon Valley.

A gantry has been erected to allow easy unloading of materials and equipment for the next phase of enhancement works.  These will reinstate the pathway from the landing stage to the fortification wall and the erection of a stairway to improve access at the wall.

Already some tidying and other work has started on the pathway, to address water erosion and stabilise path edges.  Rock left over from creating the landing stage is providing a base for part of the pathway.

Tourism development executive Mike Dean said: “Lemon Valley is a popular location for Saints and visitors alike, as well as having a fascinating history. It’s great that we’re able to improve access and facilities so that more people can discover and enjoy Lemon Valley.”

It is anticipated that the work will completed in good time for people to enjoy the area during the Christmas holiday.

In the meantime, access to the landing stage is extremely restricted while the works are under way.

The works are being undertaken by AMD Engineering, contracted by Enterprise St Helena as part of its tourism development project.
