Hallowe’en 2011

New Horizons youth centre set up a Haunted House at Kingshurst Community Centre to celebrate Hallowe’en in 2011. Demand was so great that for 2012, the organisers switched the event to a bigger and spookier venue – High Knoll Fort. Read more here or click the pics for a flavour of the 2011 event. It was a scream.

  1. news article says:

obviously like your web-site but you need to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll surely come back again.

  2. Simon Pipe says:

I think “many” and “rife” is a bit strong, but yes, I’m aware of the mistakes and often go back and correct them, but of course, this is likely to be after you have seen them. An associate checks some pieces but not all; otherwise, I’m hampered by the fact that I work alone, and this is a spare-time activity. The difficulty for all journalists is that it is very hard, in one’s own work, to spot typing and re-write errors (and that’s what most mistakes are) because the mind sees what it expects to see, rather than what is actually on the screen. 24 hours later, mistakes stand out – as in yesterday’s coffee article, which made me cringe today.

    I can spell, rather well!

The reality is that mistakes will continue to appear, and I will continue to correct them as best I can. I hope you can bear with it and that your teeth don’t suffer from too much grinding…

    Thanks for the feedback

    Simon
