Island jewellery inspired by a lost tribe

A simple piece of jewellery, made from rolled-up paper, links craftspeople on St Helena with a lost tribe of river bushmen in a vast African wetland. The jewellery was brought to the island as a possible idea for SHAPE, the crafts enterprise at Sandy Bay. The full story is here. Click on the pictures for old photographs from the original 1960s expedition, and of the necklaces now being produced on the island. There’s also a spectacular aerial shot of the Okavango Delta by Alessandro Muiesan.
