£265,000 ‘wasted’ on island wind farm

Britain spent more than a quarter of a million pounds on a wind farm for the remote island of Pitcairn that was never built, reports the Daily Telegraph and other UK national newspapers.

Australian contractors failed to set up a single turbine to serve the 55 islanders. The £1.7 million scheme for the UK overseas territory was eventually aborted, but not before the Department for International Development had spent £265,213 on it.
