Lemon Valley work recreates historic staircase

An historic staircase that was once part of the fortifications at Lemon Valley is being recreated.

A new pathway from the landing stage to the fortificating wall is also being constructed as part of a series of enhancements to one of St Helena’s favourite locations for days out.

Access to the landing stage will be restricted for six weeks during September and October and anyone planning a visit should contact the Tourist Office first.

A government spokesman said: “We feel sure that this minor inconvenience will be repaid many times over once the works are complete, and access is further improved for everyone.”
