Island-born lawyer named as St Helena’s chief magistrate

A lawyer who was born in the Western Isles of Scotland has been appointed as St Helena’s first chief magistrate. John MacRitchie takes up his new post on 24 June 2012, according to the The Courier newspaper in Dundee, where he currently practises. He is clearly not planning a brief stay on the island: the newspaper reports that his wife and two children will remain in Scotland, but fly out to join him for holidays when St Helena’s airport opens in 2012.
